We are pleased to announce the successful completion of a financing round. This financing allows us to accelerate the preparatory work for the reopening of the Käfersteige mine to extract fluorspar, a raw material listed as critical by the EU and Germany for various industries.
“We are extremely proud of the successful completion of this financing round and the opportunities it brings for our company and the region,” says Simon Bodensteiner, who, together with Peter Geerdts, is the managing director of DFG. Peter Geerdts adds: “The reopening of the mine will not only help meet the growing demand for fluorspar through domestic production without risky supply chains and environmental impact but also create jobs and strengthen the local economy.”
The successful financing was made possible by the participation of MBG (Mittelständische Beteiligungsgesellschaft) and S-Kap Unternehmensbeteiligungs GmbH & Co KG (the investment company of Sparkasse Pforzheim Calw) as silent partners of DFG. Refinancing for the investors was secured by L-Bank (Landesbank Baden-Württemberg).
We thank all parties involved for their trust in our vision and our ability to implement sustainable and contemporary raw material projects. The funds raised will enable us to go full steam ahead with the project.
DFG is currently in the general approval process for the reopening of the mine, including a voluntary environmental impact assessment for the first phase –dewatering of the currently flooded mine for technical, geological and economical studies. First rehabilitation work on mine infrastructure will already be starting this summer.
